Searching the archives of posts, I cannot seem to find an answer to this question (which hopefully is not ridiculous)...

After the student completes the application for the FAFSA Pin, does the parent use exactly the same process to obtain the parent Pin? I thought after the student process was finished, something would appear that would ask the student if the parent would like a Pin as well but this did not happen. So before proceeding, I'd appreciate guidance from those who know. Thanks.

Thanks Chedva. Do I assume then that when electronic signatures are needed, the student and parent enters their own PIN number? If so, is there a way that I/parent need to correlate my Pin to my child’s in the process?

When you do the FAFSA, you will “sign” electronically using the parent PIN and your student will “sign” electronically using their PIN.

I’m not sure what you mean by “correlate my Pin to my child’s”. You’ll get yours and your kiddo will get his/hers. You each use them when the time comes.

P.S. Save these PINs in a SAFE PLACE. You will use the SAME PIN numbers all the time your kiddo is in college. For the parent…you use the same PIN for all of your kids (parent’s don’t get a separate PIN for each child).

AND your kiddo will need the SAME PIN if they take out a Direct loan. That is the PIN they use to complete their master promissory note, I believe.
