I received two letters on Jan 3 verifying my mom's PIN and another stating the PIN cannot be processed because the ssn, dob, name doesn't match with the info on file at the ssa. I submitted my FAFSA on Jan 1 and it's been processed...so I don't know what's going on.

Is your FAFSA currently rejected, because the parent PIN is no good? Go to [The PIN Web Site - Federal Student Aid](http://www.pin.ed.gov). Have your mother create a new PIN, making sure that the name matches the name she has on file at the Social Security Administration (it needs to match the name on her social security card), and make sure the DOB is correct. Have your mother choose the four digit PIN. You should get a verification in a few days & that can be used to sign your FAFSA>

If the FAFSA is not rejected, go to [The PIN Web Site - Federal Student Aid](http://www.pin.ed.gov) and enter in your mom’s info & Request a Duplicate PIN. If the info you enter is correct & you can get the duplicate to come up, I am not sure what is going on.

Did she maybe try creating one that didn’t work, then do another that did?

My mom tried creating another one…and it says that the PIN already exists. So I guess the PIN is good?

Have her request a duplicate PIN. She will enter her name, SSN, and DOB. If those are all correct, she will get a challenge question. If she answers that, she can display her PIN … that way, she will know what PIN is good for her.

Yeah, it displays…thanks
