<p>So, my parents completed the FAFSA form today. Sent it in, submitted it, and everything. Nice and neat.</p>
<p>Problem: They signed off with the PIN number without receiving a confirmation. (They signed off with my PIN number too).</p>
<p>What should I do? (I mean, other than sit here like an idiot and worry because we really do need the financial aid...) >.<</p>
<p>You can go back into your fafsa. It will tell you whether or not it was sent to your schools. If it says it was, then it was.</p>

<p>After searching around a bit, I found this: "If we have received your PIN application and created a PIN for you, but have not yet completed the match with the SSA, we will remind you that your PIN is considered to be conditional until the match is completed. You may sign a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) with it, but nothing else. Once we complete verification with the SSA (1-3 days), you will be able to use your PIN to access your personal information on Federal Student Aid Web sites."</p>
<p>So signing with a non-confirmed PIN is fine? Or should I send in a signature page? (Deadline's by Feb. 2, so I can get it postmarked and sent off just on time.)</p>
<p>If all signature requirements are met, you're fine. If the social security match isn't met, signing a signature page won't fix it ... most likely, that won't happen, so don't worry about it.</p>

<p>You can't use your pin to do things like sign your loan docs. But, it is ok to sign the FAFSA.</p>

<p>Having problems with electronically signing the FAFSA form. I had a pin, tried it and it didn't work. Tried a variety of things to no avail. Based on info here where it says that a newly created pin can be used to sign the FAFSA, I created a new pin under my husbands ssn/etc. However when I tried to use the newly created pin it says it can't be used because the info hasn't been verified. Yet, within the error message, it says "You may sign a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) with it, but nothing else". Yet it rejected it. </p>
<p>Are they overwhelmed? or am I doing something wrong?

<p>Not sure what is going on ... but you can do a signature sheet, instead. Just print it out, sign it, and mail it in. You can indicate on the fafsa that it will be signed that way. Your FAFSA will have an error message that will be resolved when your signature page is received, but you will get the FAFSA in on time if you have a deadline.</p>
<p>If you don't have a deadline, save the FAFSA and try signing with the PIN again in a couple days.</p>
<p>Yea... my deadline is tomorrow (2/1). Had to wait for various pieces of info before being able to do it today:) It's all done ..... just challenged with the pin stuff. If I complete it and submit it without an electronic signature, I think it waits to be processed until they get the hard copy. I think I'm hosed for tonight:) I'll have to wait until tomorrow and try again. Worst case, call the college on Monday (with everyone else) and let them know what's going on... Maybe you had the same problem that we did. Be careful with the name fields when applying for the Pin number. My son inadvertantly put his first name in the last name field and we couldn't figure out why he couldn't sign the FAFSA. When you sign it must compare your last name to the previous last name fields in the FAFSA form. We figured it out by comparing his application confirmation to mine and realized that the two initials on the confirmation were from his first name not his last name. This can be fixed by completing another Pin application with first and last names in the appropriate fields - the first, incorrect, Pin application will simply not be verified with the ss# and just be discarded, while the second, corrected application will be processed and the new PIN should work.</p>
<p>We had problems with my son's PIN last year. We had applied for and got one. When he tried to use it it said he did not have one. When he tried to apply for a new one it said he already had one so could not apply for another one. I spent fruitless hours on the phone (he was working so I was trying to sort it out) trying to sort it out with FAFSA and the SS people. Never got anywhere. then a couple of days later we tried again to apply for a new one and it let him. That one worked. I never knew what the problem was. </p>
<p>If your PIN is not working try applying for a new one. If it will let you then PRINT OFF ALL THE PIN APPLICATION DETAILS you have entered. That way, if you have more problems, you can look and check that you entered everything correct.</p>
<p>The only problem that I have with the FAFSA is our EFC = $23,000. Although I can't prove it, I suspect that the same people who crunch the federal budget numbers are also in charge of the FAFSA formula, since neither appear to have any reasonable relationship to reality. I've never been so grateful for my D's merit scholarships!</p>

<p>I went through this morning and relooked at all the pins, etc and everything seems ok. I don't see where to print all the pin application details. Is it possible this is all confused because the pins were just requested? I requested my son's in November but the parent one 1/31. However, I can't get the student one to work either....</p>
<p>Are you entering the PIN and it says it's not recognized? And you have double-checked all birth dates, SSN's, name info, etc?</p>
<p>ok... I wrote down everything.... when I try to put in the student or parent electronic signature data, I enter the pin for each as a separate exercise. Each was denied because the "pin has not been verified by the SSA". Yet, as a previous person noted, it says you can sign the FAFSA with it but do nothing else with it until it's verified. Yet, I can't get past the non-verification part. Does or does it not process the electronic signature with the conditional pin? It's not working for me - either way:)</p>
<p>I have the same problem here. The pin won't work cause it has not been verified by the SSA... Anyone has the same problem, but has it resolved? Please tell me how to fix it. Shall I wait or shall I choose other methods?</p>
<p>It takes a few days but if you are rushed I'd say call - I have had some good help with a live person - surprise, surprise they are very helpful and not a long phone wait either.</p>
