FAFSA Processed - Action Required

Hello guys I submitted my fafsa and it said processed action required so does this mean my fafsa wasn’t submitted the schools wont be able to receive my financial information ?

You are an international student. I thought international students could not submit the fafsa electronically.

“To begin your FAFSA, you must enter your Social Security number. While completing the FAFSA, you must answer the “Are you a U.S. citizen?” question as “No, I am not a citizen or eligible noncitizen.” After submitting your FAFSA, you should check with your college’s financial aid office to see what types of financial aid you may be eligible to receive.” - Fafsa website,

according to them I can submit it with DACA status

Call the help phone number for FAFSA.

my fafsa was processed but it said action required, does it have to do with the fact that I’m not a citizen or eligible non citizen, my EFC has no number next to it please help I’m not sure what to do because fafsa said daca students should be able to submit fafsa if they have a SSN

OP, you could call them tomorrow.

Hi,

I gave you a very detailed answer on your other thread regarding your situation and the likelihood of receiving aid.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/financial-aid-scholarships/1850145-fafsa-problems.html#latest

Your FAFSA will not be processed electronically and it will not go to the other colleges on your list because you are not a U.S. Citizen Permanent resident.

In the event that your were a citizen or permanent resident and your parents are not, your FAFSA would not be processed until your parents submitted a signed signature page and mailed it to the federal processor, because they would not be eligible to sign electronically.

In another thread (not sure if same OP), same issue. I looked it up and it did appear that DACA students were encouraged to apply through fafsa.gov, but that didn’t make sense because of the non-citizen issue. Looks like they can print and send a fafsa form to individual schools.

The instructions are very unclear that the forms need to be sent in and won’t be processed electronically.

The action required is likely the parent signature page.

Even if OP would have googled FAFSA, non citizen the first question on the FAFSA website is

OP still would need a signature from his parents to complete the FAFSA. His parents are most likely not eligible for a FAFSA ID to sign electronically, so they would have to submit a paper signature page (the came as a student who is a US CItizen who has parents who are not US citizens). If parents did not do this, his FAFSA won’t even be processed (just like a student who is a US citizen whose parents was suppose to submit a signature page and did not).

OP lives in NYS. Had he minimally went to his/her GC (even one who is only familiar with NYC public/private schools) s/he would have been informed that s/he is not eligible for federal or NYS aid.

Had op minimally had gone to the websites of the schools that he is interested in attending and googled undocumented/international students (because that is what he is), he would have seen the process for applying for financial aid and the policies at that school (which I included on his previous thread).

http://getmetocollege.org/hs/financial-aid/info-for-undocumented-students/school-policies-towards-undocumented-students

might be helpful

Why would he not get the information directly from the source: Big future and get me to college does not trump the FAFSA policies, HESC policies for NYS aid or the individual college policies

As I stated on my other thread, if OP lives in NYC, he should apply for the Dream US scholarship which will cover tuition & fees along with a book stipend for CUNY. This way he has an affordable option. None of the schools on his list is going to give him the aid he needs to make it affordable
