FAFSA question!!!!!! Help?

I have a question
Im filling out the FAFSA but it says I cant use legal guardian information, even though my aunt supports but she didnt legally adopt me and my parents live in Mexico (they are not US citizens, however I am)
some people have told me that I should convert my parents income into US dollars
but my question is.....how will I provide proof of their income if they dont do taxes? (In mexico they are not required to fill out taxes)
and in house hold, should I provide information of how many people I live with with my aunt even though I will be using my parents income??? help please :S!!!!

I believe you use your parents’ income/asset information. Unless, I’m mistaken (and I could be so wait to see how others respond), you are really not a member of your aunt’s household…and she cannot be listed in any way on your FAFSA. You are simply living with her…not the same as “guardianship”. I believe you need to use your parents’ information. BUT I could be wrong…so be patient and wait for another response.

Hopefully Kelsmom will see this.

If she is your legal, court-appointed, guardian and this was established before you turned 18 then you’ll be considered an indpendent student for FAFSA. If it’s an informal arrangement then you must use your parent’s information. Any bills that your aunt pays that you are legally responsible for (ie. they’re in your name) would be reported as untaxed income on the student portion.
