FAFSA Question: Housing Plans

Hello,

On the FAFSA there is a question that asks about housing plans and weather I plan to live on campus, off campus or with my parents. However, I plan to live with my parents; if I select this option (live with parents), how will this affect my financial aid? Will I get less financial aid money if I enter “live with my parents” than if I enter “live on campus”?

Listing your housing plans allows your college to create an accurate budget for you (Cost of Attendance). It will be cheaper for you to live at home, so this means you will have a smaller COA. If your school does not meet full need, then your housing determination on the FAFSA typically won’t affect your aid at all. If your school gaps and your award includes a parent PLUS loan, that could be adjusted up or down depending on your housing expenses.

you need to report what is going to really happen.
