FAFSA Question, when I'm about to be done...

"Select the rigorous high school program of study that you completed "

I don't really get this question, and the drop down has "department of defense program DoDEA"

should I leave this question blank?

What state are you in? Are you getting a diploma in that state that meets the rigorous program requirements for the state? Check here: http://www2.ed.gov/admins/finaid/about/ac-smart/2009/state-programs-09.html</a>. 2010 isn’t there yet, so you’ll need to check 2009. If you don’t qualify, check the DoD requirements … if you don’t meet the state requirements, but you meet the DoD requirements, you’d qualify that way.

In the end, though, your school actually makes the determination based on your final high school transcript. So don’t worry if you aren’t 100% sure.

IL, Glenwood High School In Chatham.

I don’t think you really answered my question, there are total of three questions

one is if my school meet the requirements, I checked that

and the other one is AP/IB, and I did take AP and got 3 or higher on the tests, so I checked that one

then there is that question.

Pull up the document for Illinois. Do you meet the criteria? If not, do you qualify with at least 2 AP grades of 3 or better? If not, do you meet the DoD requirements? (actually, I think those are similar to IL requirements …)

Kelsmon do you answer the question even for a college junior? I understand for my soon to be college freshman how to answer, but I was wondering this weekend how to answer for a college junior…

No ACG for a junior … freshmen & sophomores only. SMART Grant may be available to your junior, but that is based on college major (Math, science, technology if the program is on the feds’ approved program list) and GPA (at least 3.0 cumulative at the start of the term, checked prior to the start of each term).

For both, the student must also receive Pell. No Pell, no ACG or SMART.

kelsmom, I answered that question.

There are 3 questions; I answered two of them but I don’t know about the

""Select the rigorous high school program of study that you completed "

I don’t really get this question, and the drop down has “department of defense program DoDEA”

should I leave this question blank? "

Thanks Kelsmom, I’m SOL if those questions are connected to SMART and ACG. There are so many new programs and initiatives I haven’t done my homework this year (like I should…)

It is possible that you have some questions that are used for your state’s programs. That may be why they are asked on your FAFSA. Hopefully, there is some money out there for you! I am hoping the money fairy visits my son soon, let me tell you. ;)

I honestly don’t know, qomoco. Sorry. Did you check the state one? That should be good enough. It would be verified, anyway … it’s usually just used to flag you for review. In the end, the finaid office has to double check the program using your transcript … and you wouldn’t get in trouble if you picked the wrong program.

oh, good to hear that lol, I hate troubles.
