so i already turned in my fafsa when it was due but i had put estimated values
for it. well we got the actual values and i found that for the adjusted gross income i was 591 dollars off. so i know i need to change it on my fafsa form but do i also need to contact each uc (excluding ucla since i got rejected from there) individually? also how big of a difference can be expected on my financial aid with a 591 dollar increase (lets just say its still pretty below 60k a year). Also UCR and UCM have on their websites already released the grants/loans i can take for financial aid...will this change mean that my things need to be re-evaluated?

Please don’t be. The difference is minor. You can go in and amend the FAFSA at any time and the update will be sent to the colleges you listed at the end of the FAFSA form.

You don’t want to be terrified that this is going to hurt you – so you can do a happy email to financial aid of the college you decide to attend (why get in a sweat over the others?). Anyway, when you make your decision, send the fin aid department an email that says you amended the FAFSA and by $591. I suspect it will not change a thing but you will have shown your honesty – which is a nice impression to start the college career. Consider this an opportunity to show your best side!

Every school is different but I do know a number of schools won’t change packages unless things alter by $1000 or more. It’s just not worth the time for the staff. Still, go ahead and be truthful. And then go sit in the sun!
