Im currently a senior in high school and I already want to start filling the FAFSA.
The problem is that my parents live in Mexico and I live with my uncle ( Im a citizen). He is the one that supports me economically
On the FAFSA it says that legal guardian info should not be used (tax info) unless I was legally adopted --what should I do?

I already got accepted into 2 csu´s and waiting to know if I got into UC´s
I really need the money since we are very low income...

Just because you LIVE with your uncle does NOT make him your “legal guardian”. If there isn’t some official paperwork designating him as your guardian…and you are just living with him…even with his support…you MUST use the financial information from your parents on the FAFSA.

My parents got a notorized letter but like I said, I wasnt legally adopted by him
and my parents dont do taxes, since they live in Mexico
My concern is to whether or not use my uncle information, or simply leave MY income as zero ( since Ive never worked before) and leave the parents part blank…

Unless your uncle has legal guardianship, you will be required to use the income info from your parents regardless of
Where they live.

So I convert their earning to dollars? do you have any idea if Ill require documents of proof for their income?
because they dont do taxes where they live…so should I just use an estimate my parents give me? :s

If you are required to submit your parents info, yes, you convert their earnings into U.S. dollars.

ok! thanks ! you really helped
