FAFSA question

I'm currently filling out the FAFSA and I'm unsure of (what I think) is an ambiguous question: "Highest School your mother/father completed"--does this mean the level of education my parents have graduated (i.e a high school diploma, a bachelors degree) or having just attended high school or college without attaining a degree? For example, my father attended high school but did not graduate. Would the highest level of education completed be middle school?

Sorry if this is a dumb question. I think it's the former option but I just want to double check.

If your dad attended hs but did not graduate, "middle school" would be most accurate (even if he went to "junior high") and "high school" would be wrong.
