So I filed a fafsa yesterday and right before i submitted it I applied for a PIN and used that to kinda "finalize" the submission. I realized right after that I forgot to add the public schools to my list so I logged in with my PIN and added the schools today as a correction form.

I just read that it takes 3 days for the PIN to be actually verified so would the corrections I did today be valid at all? Also does the corrections just add on to the original fafsa form or is it considered a separate document?

If it all went through with no glitches, then I would guess you PIN was active already. Yes, you will find that the corrections will appear as a second transaction. I would double check in a day or so to verify that everything is in order.

There's two PIN's involved, three, actually, if you count the FAFSA password.

You need a signature PIN for the student, and for one parent. You also need a FAFSA password to log in and save your FAFSA work. You don't log in with your signature PIN.

I'd use your FAFSA password to log in and see what the status is-- it will tell you whether the original was successfully submitted, and whether the correction was successfully submitted.

I'm guessing your confusing the PIN with the password.

So I checked my status today and it seems that both the initial fafsa and the corrections have been processed. Now if I need to add more schools, (I have more than 10), I would make the correction on the correction instead of the initial fafsa file since its more recent right?

If you have schools listed on the original FAFSA and on the second transaction, you need to make corrections to both of these, not just to the second one.
