I keep hearing that you MUST submit the FAFSA as soon as possible.

The problem is that my parents don't have the info needed, and won't get it till later.

When filling out the FAFSA, do they want the exact numbers that will be on the income tax or estimates?

You can file it with estimates. When you fill it out you’ll have a question about whether you’ve filed your taxes. The choices are “completed taxes”, “will file”, and “won’t be filing”… or words to that effect. Choose “will file”.

Then fill it in with your best estimates and submit it to your schools. After your taxes have been completed you can go back in and do a correction, enter the actual numbers from your completed tax return, and change the status to “completed taxes.”

Then re-submit it to the schools.

By getting the estimated version in now you can meet any upcoming application deadlines at your colleges (I’m assuming they haven’t already passed).
