Um...I got an email from FAFSA. This is the address FederalStudentAidFAFSA@cpsemail.ed.gov. After a google search, it looks alright. The email gives you a link to see your SAR and here's my dilemma. In both Firefox and IE, clicking the link leads to a warning about an untrusted connection/bad security certificate. The link doesn't have www. in front of fafsa.gov. Does this make a difference?

Even if I add www. the warning still appears…is this a fake email?

I honestly don’t know, but you can find out anything you need to know by going to [FAFSA - Free Application for Federal Student Aid](http://www.fafsa.ed.gov) & digging around in your processed FAFSA. If it is processed & all set, you will be able to see that (“check status” in Box #3). If not, you should be able to find messages there. You can call the 800 number if you have any questions … in fact, call them about the email address.

That’s the same e-mail address my notice from FAFSA came from last year and it was fine.

My last year’s e-mail also states - “If you encounter any problems retrieving your SAR, go to www.fafsa.ed.gov/faq016.htm for assistance. You may also call the Federal Student Aid Information Center at 1-800-4-FED-AID (1-800-433-3243).”

Every morning when I click (via bookmark) to check my checking account, I get a security warning about the pnc bank website and I have to click to accept and continue. I don’t know why, Safari thinks their certificate is expired.

It’s a good email. Same as mine from last year.
I use firefox too and a lot of .gov websites come up with an expired certificate.

I Received the same email and warning. I noticed that the link is to FASFA.gov not fasfa.ed.gov. If you add .ed in between Fasfa and gov . It works, Someone put the wrong link and forgot to add the .ed

That’s exactly what mine did. Don’t worry. It’s legit. ;)

Same here.
