Hi! I'm hoping you all can help me.

My mom is filling out my FAFSA today. This year my older sister is filling out a FAFSA for what I believe is the first time. She is in Community College but looking to transfer soon. She still qualifies as dependant.

Does my mom have to fill out a FAFSA for each of us, or is there a way to connect them?

Thank you!

Each student does have to have their own FAFSA. Each student will need their own PIN. The parent can use their PIN to sign each. I think there is a question when you get to the end of yours that asks if there is another family member that will have a FAFSA and allows you to use the parent data to populate the 2nd FAFSA. I never seem to have been able to use this (probably timing - my son decided to go back to school well after I had done my daughter’s FAFSA) but other posters have said the option is there.

Yes there is a point where you can “connect” the parent portion and it populates the second FAFSA. Darn if I can remember what point that is all I remember was that it toward the end…

The option to move on to another student’s FAFSA occurs immediately after the first is submitted.

When you submit the FAFSA you get a screen that is graphically different, and about an inch down it shows your EFC. Right below that is a paragraph which, who would bother reading, since you’re DONE!–but in that paragraph is the link to fill out a second FAFSA for a second child.

Good Luck! Nice to see HisGraceFillsMe again!
