I have to say I am at my wits end. Sometime prior to the beginning of Spring Quarter I had a close near and dear friend of mine pass away. Needless to say it shaken me; despite all the bravdo I have put up. Socially it was not very visible, with many responsibilities and social obligations I brushed it aside and tried to push on. I started doing poorly in classes. I had thought I would fail it all however one of them was stressing me more than another so I ended up dropping one course. Now at the time being of dropping the course I was only at 10 credits which is 2 credits too low to continue my aid. Under a motion of self pity I had only considered counseling at the time offered by the school. However out of pride as I was running for student government at the time I refused to see one. Now spring quarter is completed with lower than good grades, and for some miraculous reason I still was able to get in my major I am afraid. I don’t know what to do anymore…is there a chance I can get my aid back prior to fall quarter? I do not know of any other way to attend school without my aid…I could work however It doesn’t seem to add up to the amount tuition costs. My folks struggles to even make electricity, and mortgage parents thus I can not expect support from their end…

Did you get a notice that your aid was suspended then? You didn’t say. Are you familiar with the Satisfactory Academic Progress guidelines at your school? First familiarize yourself with it. SAP will be described in the student handbook, often online. You may find it by googling. You can read and understand it, then follow the procedures for appeal. If they will reinstate it for one semester you must make sure nothing stands in the way. Drop your extra activities to attend to passing your classes.

Federal guidelines do not allow students to continue to get aid until they get back in compliance. But depending on previous performance you can find out from the guidelines what you have to take and pass in order to do that. Some students will have to transfer to a community college and self-pay until they are back in compliance. If you have to do that you will have to get a job to pay it. You can go see an adviser about your options.
