FAFSA required for merit?

Is the FAFSA required to be eligible for merit scholarships at GT?

To be considered for scholarships awarded by Georgia Tech, you must complete the Georgia Tech Application for Scholarships and Financial Aid (GT App) AND the FAFSA. Incoming first-year students must also complete the College Board CSS Profile.

Has anyone been able to access the GT App? I daughter activated her GT Account several days ago but gets a “You successfully logged in via the GT Login Service, but this program is unable to look up your ID information.” error on the Financial Aid page.

I found OSCAR with a views, but everything either 404’s or doesn’t have anything useful other than confirming the FAFSA was received.

(I have emailed the provided address for help.)

Yes my daughter submitted her application for financial scholarship via GT App, was able to do fine. I just checked the Oscar as well, information is captured all fine. I think that must be some particular day. Try it out now it works.

Yep, it was working today after still not working last night.

Though many of the links on the form that are supposed to describe various scholarships still give 404s.

They also never responded to my email, sent to the “for help, contact us at xxx” email address”, last Friday.

And to follow on the above, one line specifically asked if we wanted to be considered for scholarships that do not take need into account. It specifically stated that FAFSA/CSS was not needed to apply for these.

All other lines explicitly said they were need-based.

Thanks. I wish schools would stop mixing merit with need-based aid on their websites. Weeding though dozens of listings on the “Merit” page only to find they nearly all are actually need-based is very frustrating.
