FAFSA requiring tax returns to be "already filed" in order to make corrections???

SO i made corrections to my FAFSA in the AGI number and other figures I estimated... for some reason it's indicating that I need to change my parents tax return status to "Already filed" in order to submit any corrections that I was able to make using the W-2s

Even though Ive received the W-2s and Im able to make the corrections, the tax return has not yet been filed, and so I cant just say that it has been filed. Yet without doing so, It wont allow me to submit it with just the corrections.

Has anyone had an experience with this before?

Actually, it’s “already completed”, not “already filed”.

I have not had the experience you’ve had, but even if it changes it to “already completed”, you can still go in an make another change after that.

A lot of people are going to have completed their taxes before they file them this year since the IRS has delayed accepting any tax returns from people who itemize their deductions or are claiming an education credit.

In your case, though, if the most recent changes you’ve made are for fairly minor adjustments, you could just wait and submit your FAFSA changes until after your taxes are completed.

I would say…if you haven’t completed your taxes…wait until you DO so to make the changes.
