FAFSA section on student's income

Hi,

I'm a current college freshmen and I was given work study for this academic year. I made $1000 for the fall semester at my job. How do I report it on FAFSA? Under Adjusted Gross Income section for 2006? What about reporting it on worksheet C which asks the direct question how much I got in work study for the academic year. Do I put the $1000 I earned already or the entire work study allowance I was given for the school year ($1800)?Also, on that same worksheet, FAFSA asks about scholarships and grants, do they mean university based ones? I got a general undergrad college grant for 30,000 this academic year and about 10,000 in pell and other federal grants as well. Is this what I am suppose to put down? Thanks!

It's included as part of your income. Then, it's included as work study on Worksheet C, and it gets deducted from your income. Don't put your allowance, put how much you made. Don't sweat it-- students can make up to about $3K before it starts impacting their aid, and work study doesn't count in that amount.

When FAFSA asks about outside scholarships and grants, they're talking about the ones that aren't disbursed through the school. Just list outside scholarships that the school hasn't already included in your aid package.

Hey I have a question that relate to the one asked by the threadstarter. For the question asking about scholarships and grants, it says 'student grant and scholarships reported to the IRS...' I did not file a tax return for 2006, but I did get a couple of scholarships outside of my university. Do I list those or no?
