I thought the CSS Profile was confusing. At least it had a separate non-custodial form...

My parents are separated. I'm filling out the FAFSA for my mom because I live with her. For question 79 (What was the student's parents' adjusted gross income for 2006?), do I include my non-custodial parent's income or just the income of my mom? It seems to imply that this combined income is the income of your household so I'm hesitant to include both parents.

Also, I should still list my father's wages for question 82 even though he is a non-custodial parent, right?

No. For FAFSA, just include the income info for the custodial parent. Custodial parent is the one you lived with for most of the past 12 months. Non-custodial parent's income and assets don't count.

Check the "separated" box, and leave the Father info blank. FAFSA treats separations and divorces exactly the same.

If parents are separated, just list the custodial parent info, leave the other parent info blank. If custodial parent has remarried, include the step-parent info.
