If I login and click FAFSA status, it says “no self-service access for this aid year.” What does this mean? Does it mean they haven’t received my FAFSA?
It says the same under My FA. Should I be worried?

Pretty sure it says that for everyone until offers are posted; it definitely does for me. Someone on the main applicant thread said they would begin to release today but I haven’t seen anything yet. The @UMichAdmissions Twitter account says “Early March.”
Also (just because you only mentioned FAFSA) make sure to fill out the CSS PROFILE as well if you haven’t, I’m pretty sure that’s an additional requirement for aid.
@CautiousOptimist Thanks! Yeah, I already submitted my CSS, but thanks for the reminder!
It’s just really nerve-wracking, because UM is my dream school for several reasons, and I don’t want financial issues to be the reason I can’t go. I guess I’m reading too much into everything
Thanks again!
For freshmen, it will take longer before seeing the FAFSA update as they are not committed yet. For return students, the FAFSA status is updated faster, but it would still take weeks.
It would be nice if UofM gave some confirmation that they’ve received your fafsa and CSS. I have considered calling them to verify it, but decided against it since I have the confirmation from fafsa/css – plus, everyone else seems to also have the same vague non-information under Financial Aid in WA.
I emailed them asking if they had received my documents and here was their reply:
Hi Spaceman,
We have received both the FAFSA and the Profile and you should be receiving your financial aid notification shortly. We expect to have the student self-service view to be turned on later this week.
Regards,
Ah! Thank you @SpacemanPiff! That’s exciting!
I hope by “later this week” they mean tomorrow. I know I sound impatient, but I just want to know if I should be looking for more scholarships.
@AcceptableName As tomorrow is the end of the week, I assume it does.
Good Friday is not a holiday at UMich.
