Hi everyone,
I completed my FAFSA and did not list my schools in alphabetical order! Though I did list my top choice at the top of my list, the rest of the 9 schools were listed randomly (based on which ones came to mind first). Now, I have been hearing that colleges take into consideration the place they were listed on the FAFSA application when considering admits to improve yield. I had always thought that FAFSA applications were sent to financial aid departments for evaluation and that FA department did not consult with the admissions office prior to admitting students. I am really worried/ lost right now on how colleges are actually using the FAFSA… What should I do?
I should note that this question is directed towards the selective schools that have need-blind admit policies
Colleges can no longer see the list of schools. You’re fine.
@“Erin’s Dad” Would they be able to see that on the CSS Profile though?
@PartyNextDoor Schools aren’t allowed to see what schools you applied to. Pretty sure they’re also not allowed to ask it as part of they’re application.
@usualhopeful Actually, this is a topic of debate. See Post #1 in this thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/financial-aid-scholarships/449583-css-profile-can-colleges-see-who-i-send-this-to.html
Also, there are colleges that do indeed ask it as part of their application. Rice asks this question on the Common App, and Harvard requires all their alum interviewers to ask this question when they interview their candidates.
