FAFSA v. CSS?

I applied SCEA at Yale but chose not to apply for financial aid. After being accepted, the Yale finaid office called me, saying that I still needed to turn in the CSS profile and a copy of my parents' tax returns to be considered. So I went ahead and did it just to see if I'd be eligible for anything (I mean hey, if they were letting me turn this in late, then why not, you know?). I did not fill out FAFSA as it was not one of the required forms they asked for.

However, I just read on one of these threads that colleges aren't likely to adjust the amount of financial aid you receive in later years if incomes/circumstances change unless you submit FAFSA initially.

So I guess my question is, should I go ahead and submit FAFSA? I honestly have no idea how the finaid process works or what FAFSA even does, because I was never intending on applying for aid (my father's income is too high to qualify). But I want to cover my bases in case things change substantially and unexpectedly in the next few years.

This was an incredibly long winded post. I apologize for my ignorance of the process and hope someone can help me.

Do FAFSA now. It'll be easier to do with the PROFILE in front of you. You are not late with the FAFSA as it only became available Jan 1.
