So I'm gathering all my information and my parents info, because on my FAFSA (SAR) I have been asked to verify my Parents Tax Info.

A friend of mine told me about the verification process and how they don't accept tax copies and that therefore I need to order Transcripts from the IRS. My question is, I went to the IRS.gov website and there's two options. One being to download them online and print them. And the other is to get them via mail. Now my question is, if I print my transcripts online from the IRS website, are they the same as the ones I'll get by mail? And if so, can I show my college Financial Advisor the Online IRS Printed Transcripts instead of having to wait for the ones by mail which will take 5-10 days to arrive.

Appreciate any help thanx.

Bump, help anyone?

What has your school said you need to do? Have you tried using the IRS Data Retrieval Tool on the fafsa website. Generally that will satisfy the same part of verification that a transcript will. Has your school informed you of any other forms you need to fill out for verification?

Call your school. I think you have one of two choices, transcript or go back into fafsca application and use data retrieval tool. Write here again if you need help with the DRT. It can be a pain. But much easier and quicker than transcript, at least it seems so to me.

thanx guys i went to the FA office but they said that their 2014-2015 FA System won’t be fully updated until the second week of May, so until then I’ll just have to wait to take care of the verification process.

Second week of May? What state do you live in? In Maine, the deadline is May 1 and I thought most states had hte same.

Back to your original question. Downloaded and printed transcripts are acceptable and in fact encouraged by the DofE and IRS.
