FAFSA verification status

Hello,
My FAFSA tax info was chosen for validation. We gave copies of the required forms to my school, but now the status displayed for the award is "Your file has been sent to Dept of Ed for corrections." I'm not exactly sure what to make of this, or what I should be expecting to happen.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

It means that some items had to be updated during verification. It is common for families to make mistakes on the FAFSA unintentionally, and the financial aid officer must make corrections when verifying. After verification is complete, the changes are sent to the central processor. After a few days, an updated file is returned to the school. At this point, the EFC is considered official and the school can package your aid (if they have not yet done so) and make disbursements (if it is already time for disbursements).

Breathe…we had the same “verification” flag. Our DD’s college financial aid office reassured us they would take the information we sent them, and send the corrected information to the Dept of Education. Remember, you answered to the best of your ability-the TRUTH. Kelsmon is correct-now breathe :D.

Alright, so basically, they DID find some mistakes, and they’re currently in the process of correcting them. Thanks for the help, I just didn’t know what to make of it, haha.
