Hello,
I want some information from you.Because I am new to US education system.I along with my parents came to the USA in Feb,2011.In March I filed FAFSA because I am an eligible non citizen. After that I got my SAR and found my EFC is 0.I also made a mistake in putting my fathers 2010 income.it was actually $1790 but I put $17900.I did this mistake when converting my fathers foreign income to US dollar. Now my college wants my fathers 2010 US income tax return, also my income TAX return though I didnt have any income before coming USA.I informed them that according to IRS rule we didnt require to file 2010 TAX.Then they want my fathers foreign income TAX return. But the fact is he didnt require to pay tax there because his income was below a certain amount(125000 bd= about $1690).Now my college wants a letter from a tax lawyer describing why he didnt need to pay..Also ask me to write a letter describing my situation...
This is my situation.I am very confused about this matters.I asked around many people but nobody has similar situation like me.Now what I want to know is If we cant provide TAX papers(we dont have any),then wont I get aid?and will the correction affect the aid?
Any reply will be greatly appreciated...Thank you.

The college asks for the tax papers because it is how they verify your family’s income. You need to find out what other evidence they can accept instead of tax forms. For this year you might need to have someone in their international student office help out.

Good luck!

Thanks…Happymom…From next year we can file tax so I hope there will be no problem…But for this year it is a problem…I will talk to international student office tomorrow.
