FAFSA, "will not file"

as everybody knows, i need a tax return transcript in order to get some financial aid, BUT my mom CANT file taxes for 2012. She didnt work that year becouse the immigration judge told her no until her work permission arrived and finally work legally. I was told by the financial aid at the college that i could fill out a Parent Non-Tax Filer’s Statement.

If i do this can i still get financial help?
also do i need to attached more documents ?

If you are eligible to be considered for financial aid, and if you follow all the steps that the financial aid office asks you to, then you can be considered for aid. Whether or not you receive any aid will depend on the specific type(s) of aid that you might qualify for, and that your college/university has available to hand out. You need to be speaking with them. They will tell you exactly what they need you to do.

Many people are not required to file taxes - for various reasons, including not earning enough income to be required to pay taxes. And that’s what the Non-Tax Filer’s statement is for - it’s just a declaration that the parent was not required to file taxes. Filing this statement will NOT make you ineligible for aid.

So, submit the form as requested, You’ll be fine.

Okay thanks alot for the help !(: And Ill speak to the financial aid people next week ill try to ask as much as I can !
