Does applying for financial aid has a resident of the US hurt chances of acceptances? I believe BC is need blind, but what does this really mean?

Dear Tightend81 : Your financial aid application and academic application are actually separated during the admissions process prior to any evaluations. Therefore, the admissions readers never see your financial aid requests. “Need-blind” describes this admissions process.

I think there is a do you intend to apply for financial aid question, though, which would tell them quite a bit. I believe BC must have some of the wealthiest applicants, as less than half apply for aid.
