fAfSA

When do we file FAFSA?

Now for 2013-2014

1/1/2014 for 2014-2015

I think it was April 1 for my school. But the overall latest would be June 30…it mainly depends on the school…

for federal financial aid

So i don’t get it, if I’m graduating next june, i apply now?

If you are graduating High School next June (in a year) and planning to attend college the following September, you should file FAFSA in the winter or spring of next year, as soon as you and your parents have the tax and income information available to fill in the forms. A lot of schools will want you to submit your financial aid application at the same time as your admissions application, so you should discuss this with your parents and make sure they know that next year is NOT the year to wait until April 15th to do their taxes.

So you are saying i should do fafsa this december or say february?

I don’t think the actual Fafsa form goes live on the web for the next academic year until around January 1 of each year. So, for the 2014-15 academic year, the form goes live on the web around January 1, 2014. Some schools require it very soon after it goes live, while some give you until April. You need to know when the earliest deadline is among all the schools to which you are applying, so you can get it to that one on time – the added plus will be that it will be done by then, and you can just have it sent in early to all the other schools that have later deadlines.

FAFSA for when you will be attending as a fr, the 2014-15 school year, comes out Jan 1, 2015. For fr, most deadlines are well before April, many are in Feb.

Part of FAFSA asks if you/your parents HAVE filed or WILL file their Federal income tax. So you will likely fill out FAFSA based on the previous year’s taxes, adjusting as necessary, and submit it before the deadline as WILL file.

^^^
Don’t you mean January 1, 2014?

:o Yes! Thanks for catching that!

You fill out the FAFSA as soon as possible after January 1 of your senior year in high school.

Oh yeah and what do we need to fill out FAFSA?
