Fafsa

It isn't going through. Does anyone know how to get the green forms that FAFSA sends over the mail? I remember I requested the forms from the website and I got them, I just don't remember how. Help. Also, FAFSA isn't passing. I first used the IT number that is in the tax form and then you guys told me use the 000 000 0000 and it's giving me an error. I'm thinking about sending the form with the recent tax form when I get the green sheets. I also received an email that they're going to charge me 69.99 bucks for the FAFSA again, I don't know what that's about. Thanks for helping me with my various questions.

P.S I can post screenshots, I just don't know how to do that here.

If they are charging you, you are going to the wrong site. FAFSA is the FREE application for Federal Student Aid. Are you by any chance going to FAFSA.com? If so, stop now.

The correct site is [Home - FAFSA on the Web-Federal Student Aid](http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/)

Fafsa is free, that’s what the first ‘f’ stands for. Are you going to fafsa.gov or fafsa.com? For which school year are you trying to file fafsa? The 2014-15 fafsa isn’t available until Jan. 1.

And the page for downloading 2013-14 forms if you can’t complete the online ones for some reason. https://fafsa.ed.gov/fotw1314/pdf/PdfFafsa13-14.pdf

As`annoying Dad said, the forms for the next school year are not available yet.

Paul, are you a current student looking for aid for the 2013-2014 school year, or 2014-15 school year?

The new form for incoming college freshmen is not available until January 1, 2014.

Also - why are you applying for financial aid so late?

The following error(s) have occurred:
You reported that the father’s/stepfather’s Social Security Number (SSN) is all zeroes (000-00-0000), and the mother’s/stepmother’s SSN is blank or all zeroes. You also reported that the parents’ tax return status is filed or will file, and the tax return type is not a foreign tax return.

This is the error. Help.

Also my previous FAFSA got submitted and was processed. But it also told me I had to correct it again.

Don’t do the paper FAFSA forms. It takes too long to process and if there are mistakes, you won’t be able to fix them in a timely manner.

You are a community college student now, but are thinking about transferring in the spring, or applying to transfer in the spring? Totally different things and would influence your aid and when to apply.

Spring, yes community student. Share your knowledge with me please! Haha. I applied so late because I was traveling the world during the summer.

As another poster commented, you signed up for the wrong Fafsa. You never have to pay for it, and you should not have applied to this site.

You can still cancel that application, and apply to the correct one.

This is the correct site, and the one you should use for the rest of your college life.

[Home - FAFSA on the Web-Federal Student Aid](http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/)

Oh dear. You used the wrong site. Do not use it any more. Go to the actual government site [Home - FAFSA on the Web-Federal Student Aid](http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/)

The reason my advice would be to not use that service is because you are paying an agent to do the same thing you can do for free for the next several years.

You are also giving out your social security number to a third party provider, which is a risk to your identity.

Applying on your own is also faster - you do the work, it’s done and you get the ball rolling on aid. You should list the schools you are applying to for spring start date - if you are applying now to be admitted for spring semester.

That is the website I use. I made sure it said gov. I wish I could post screenshots. :frowning: the text I posted is from an email I got.

It can’t be the correct website if they are attempting to charge you. FAFSA never charges and there is no “gold service”

Paul, it’s not correct.

You have been had. Send me a private message with the name of the website, since you cannot link it here. I will see if I can figure it out.

Hold up let me try to get some pics to upload.

Unless there is some program hijacking your computer, you did not go to [Home - FAFSA on the Web-Federal Student Aid](http://www.fafsa.gov). You most likely went to fafsa.com by mistake. Please, please do not pay to file a FAFSA. It’s not that hard to file! If you have trouble, there are plenty of people who will help you for free. Schools have financial aid offices with staff who can assist. We can help you if you have questions. Most likely, you will find that it is not at all difficult to complete.

We got him up to speed. FAFSA filed.

Good! :)

Wow, what an object lesson in how easy it is to defraud naive kids! I don’t understand why the feds didn’t long ago buy up FAFSA.com and similar names to prevent this from happening.

yes that is not correct
