<p>Hi, I recently attempted to file both my css and fafsa but found that it was incredibly difficult for me and my family to "estimate (for 2007)" our current financial situation. My parents are going to file their 2007 tax stuff in the beginning of February so I was wondering if it really does make a difference if I estimate now and change it later or if I just file both my css and fafsa after february in order to get the perfect numbers right the first time.</p>
<p>I have found that it is easier to file the correct numbers the first time. This might not be possible for everyone, though, because school deadlines could be before our family has finished taxes. By law, employers must get the W2s to their employees by Jan 31, and that cuts things pretty close. You can file estimated forms, and that meets school deadlines, but then you have to go back and correct any discrepancies. If you have the final pay stubs, though, and compare them to 2006, you can probably come pretty close.</p>
