Has anyone not filled theirs out yet like me? I'm hellllllla late and procrastinated like a little *****. When they say the deadline is the 2nd can I still submit it on the 2nd? Or is it BEFORE the 2nd?

Deadline is midnight March 2. I still need ot fill mine out too. Good think I saved my pin numbers.

Ok, thank god. And for those of us who haven't filed tax returns for 07 we can just estimate/make up numbers right?

Yeah, you can just estimate, and then make corrections later once you've actually filed.

Side question: To file a 1040, can we mail it in? If so, to what address?

Hmm let me see....---->Here?

you guys i have a question...when we are reporting our income total...do we combine our wages plus grants and scholarships we recieved or just wages?

Just wages I'm pretty sure. Confirm with someone else as well, though..

Just wages, at least that's what I did last year, and nothing has happened...yet.

but theres another slot to indicate grants and scholarships..do we leave that blank?

I sure did. Damn it woman, do I look like I work at H&R Block?! :rolleyes:

So, I can file as an independent student. What are the benefits or drawbacks of doing that? EFC will be the same in either case, BTW.

I think there was something about education credits. Like, if you're an independent then you get the credits on your tax forms but if you're a dependent then your parents get them.

Other than that, I wouldn't know. :(

Still haven't done it.

I need a sound spanking :|

If you have grants/scholarships in excess of tuition/fees/books they are taxable and must be included in your AGI on your tax return.

http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p970.pdf

total scholarships/grants less tuition/fees/books = taxable scholarships grants.
