I am taking Cal BC now as a junior. My class is not just Cal BC but it's like Cal II in college so it's really tough. I am failing it now. Most of my classmates are not doing so well either. I am really disappointed with myself.

Will it affect my application to college a lot next year ? Is my chance to good colleges over because I have had some F ?

Well not really, calc BC can place you out of calc II at some schools, but BC is a very bare boned calc II. Yeah it will affect your application.... especially if youre applying to technical colleges. A B- or C is okay, but F...

why are u taking it if u cant handle =S?? i took calc ab as a junior and i thought that was pretty hard =S sigh how can u not know the difficulty of the course?

Wow, if you took Calc AB last year and are failing the class so early on this year...either your teacher is NUTS, or you should just drop the class. Could you drop the class? Otherwise, a F in anything is just going to rip a hole through your application.

How many days have you gone into school??? You've just barely started. I'm in Calculus BC too this year and got a 70 on my first quiz. I considered dropping out but decided to stick with it.

I'm going to buckle down and put twice as much effort toward the class. How is failure even an option???

Here... I found this site to be excellent as a review and for future topics.

That's how my Math Analysis class is. The teacher isn't the greatest; mostly just gives notes, then you do assignments which I hardly get. I'm thinking about switching to another MA class, but being four weeks into it would be a bit tough.

Gah is it somewhat easy to go up from an F in a subject you completely suck at?

hey nns,did u tkae the ap exam for ab? cuz i think bc would be a breeze if u did well on ab. i took ab last yr , this yr im the only one in the school taking bc,so my teacher doesnt teach me anything 1st qtr,and he basically teaches the ab kids while i do my other own things.. if uve taken ab,bc should be easy -.-

I did the AP Cal AB exam last year and got a 4 ( too bad). BC at my new school is not that easy. Things are way more advance. We are doing Taylor and MacLaurin series now. If this is not too hard, may be it's because I am so stupid.

Will my Fs on the first 2 assignments affect anything ?

4 is actually fine~~ i think u'll be okay for the BC exam, but ay, too bad ur teacher is too strict, ~~ u gotta find a way to bring it up,its really gonna hurt you >.<! BC is only like 3 chapters extended from AB, so its nothing hard~~

What if I can bring it up to an A, let say at the end of the quarter ? or the end of the year ? How many As do I need to bring my average up to an A ?

You're rushing man. Set realistic goals. First try to ask the teacher for them most possible help; ask alot of question, see em after class, etc. You could also ask a kid you is doing reasonably well. Analyze the book like crazy. Those 2 F's are the past- work on the future. Try first to get it to a C, and then shoot for the B and A. You took Ab Calc, so it is possible.
