Fail from a requirement course right before graduation

hey guys,

I am a student of U of M. I didn’t know that I need to pass from a major requirement, so I accidently failed from the course.

The problem is, I’ve already applied for graduation in this term (but this term is right before to be finished). In this case, I think I can retake the course over the spring term, but can I still graduate on spring term? I found there’s only commencement, but no graduation ceremony, so I am confused.

Anyone know about this, please help me.

What to you mean by “graduate”? Participate in graduation by walking in the ceremony? Perhaps. But receive your degree? Definitely not. The senior auditors will detect your fail and that you didn’t satisfy your graduation requirements, and you will be removed from the degree lists. You will be awarded your degree at the end of the term in which you fulfil all your graduation requirements.

BTW, how did you “accidentally” fail a course? Did you simply not attend? And you should have receive a statement from the senior auditors listing precisely what you needed to do to graduate.

This is not uncommon in EECS. I was never sure of what happened. You definitely would not get your degree if you did not fulfill the requirements. If you can get it done over spring or summer, you can definitely still walk in the spring. If you have to wait until fall or later, then I’m not sure.
