I'm currently in danger of failing an AP course for the last six weeks (one report care period or 1/3 of the semester.) I should pass the semester... but would having a failing six weeks grade (not the semester grade) put me at any risk for rescission?

I am guessing you are referring to your mid-term grade in this class—correct? Most schools just send their semester grades, not mid-term. If that is the case for your school-easy question for your GC—then focus on how you can pull up your grade for your final transcript. G’Luck! Oh…and nail your AP exam in May.

Talk to your professor ASAP. Let them know how important this class is to you and how seriously you are taking it. If you have NHI’s (what we call not handed in work) ask if you can turn in late for half or partial credit. Zeros can kill your grade. If you are having difficulty with the content then ask about extra help or tutoring. Let them know you are making an active effort to raise your grade. Mention the effect on college, but don’t make it the primary focus, it will irritate the professor! No one wants to be taken for grated and ‘played’ at the 11th hour. If they feel your effort is sincere and you are on the edge of a passing grade, you are more likely to be given the benefit of the higher grade.
I would echo APOL in saying check with your guidance dept. and see how grades are reported to schools. I would not use this as an excuse not to do everything you can to recover from the poor grade.
Good luck!
