I am a first year student at the UNC Chapel Hill with the intention of going to med school or pharmacy school and I have already gotten a D in chemistry. It was mainly due to how hard the transition was and a lot of personal problems going on. Now it is my second semester, I am retaking chem and things are looking better but now I am literally about to fail Calc 1 (Math 231). I have tried absolutely everything I can to study for the exams but I just can’t seem to do well and it is too late for me to drop the class. I feel so out of place here and I’m worried my chances of getting accepted into grad school is out of the question if I fail this class (and when I say fail I don’t mean just a D I mean with an F). Do people at UNC Chapel Hill even fail classes?! I just can’t seem to get my morale up anymore, I just feel so defeated and dumb. I don’t know what to do with myself anymore.
Have you talked to your advisor? If nothing else, you’ll have to figure out how to make up the classes somehow (like in summer school). They can also tell you more about your school’s policy for retaking classes.
Can you talk to your professor and see if you can maybe get a D?
Lots of people get bad grades in college; you just have to make sure it doesn’t keep happening. Maybe try to take some easier classes next semester to boost your GPA?
Good luck!!
