I took a math class this semester, and I had a C actually, but b/c the math department instituted an online part to the class where you have to have an 80% or higher on every test, I ended up failing. No matter what your in-class grade is you still fail if you don't have 80's or higher on every online quiz.

Anyway,
I've come to the conclusion I will be retaking this course b/c I will be able to replace the failing grade w/ my new one. Problem is: the F will still show up on my transcript (but won't hurt my gpa) along with the new grade.

Will transfer admissions look at this as a bad thing? Or will they acknowledge my efforts to attain the highest grade possible, although I had prior struggles? Will I be able to explain my F?

The school I'm talking about is UNC chapel Hill.

They have so many applicants, and so many decisions to made which means they are not gonna spent time on a grade which is not even calculated in your GPA. How is this an urgent??? Nothing can be changed if someone replied to your post…

Yes, they will consider the F. If the school has a choice between you with, say, a retaken B vs. someone who got a B the first time around, which should they take?

Each applicant is unique ,this is a thing that is not actually true…Do u know the odds to find similar applicants??? from none to 0.0009 percent …They are going see the package ,your essay, teacher evaluation if any, your gpa and finally how are they gonna be benefited form you…:)

It depends on the college. I’ve been to colleges that won’t accept any acknowledgment of failed grades from other schools, so it’s as if you never even took the course. You should have a talk with your guidance councilor.
