Failed English Freshman year - Chance me?

I am an incoming senior and I really wanted to go to a decent UCI.

I started my freshman year quite poorly. I ended up getting 3 C's that year and I failed English second semester. That summer, I retook it and managed to get an A.

I turned things around starting sophmore year and right now my UC GPA is a 3.9, and I have a 2090 SAT score, and I think I can break 2200 in October. I know that UC's put very little weight on freshman year, but I still failed a class. Do I still have a decent chance? Did this really screw up my chances?

Thanks in advance.

Should be cool if you did retake it.
UCI average acceptance GPA was 4.07 and SAT was like 1873

The UC’s put no weight on Freshman year…it’s just your 10th grade and 11th grade work. tbh…I don’t really agree with the way they do it but it benefits you. They will also see that you increased greatly after your “disastrous” freshman year…that’s another plus.

freshmen year doesn’t matter and the fact that you retook it and got an A should clear any problems.

3.9/2090 should definitely get you into irvine and if you can break 2200 then its a no brainer. good luck
