I failed gym, will I now not be accepted at any colleges. I know it says not to fail anything but will failing gym keep me out of my top choices?

How do you fail gym? Gym = participate+change clothes = A

I don't know that it will keep you out, but it won't help your GPA.

most schools self-weigh your gpa, as in, they get your grades, and weigh on their own, in these situations, your PE grade isnt counted, and you should know, that adcomms do more than look at gps, the look at grades and classes, in this case, while you wont look like a born athelete, and it wont be helpful, but it certainly wont hurt as much, as long as you look like a good student..

well my own two cents...."how do you fail gym?" I didn't know that was possible. That having been said, I think the only way that it will hurt you is if the admissions committee sees it as a sign your brushing off classes and don't care...

1 Priority: You may not be allowed to graduate from high school without the gym credit. Check with your GC.

In terms of colleges, you need to send an explanation. Take full responsibility at the same time that you present what happened.

If there is any way to have this reversed, look into it. Get your parents involved with your GC, assistant principal and principal, and possibly the district superintendent.

Hey! I failed gym too.... :(

HOW?!? I always thought PE was one of those "Easy A" classes.

many people fail gym in my school, its an A if you show up, but many just sleep in or skip swim classes and refuse to make them up.

My gym teacher is really picky choosy. I absolutely hateee gym class, but I always take it. Speaking of which, I got my first C in 10th grade because of stupid gym. He said the ball past me one time so it served for a C. Also, if you play a sport, he'll be more generous towards you. And if you play volleyball, you're guaranteed an A because he is the volleyball coach. Gym is incredibly lame here.

hahahahaha

so lemme guess...your top choice is Bob Jones University? or Wait even better yet...whats that one with 100% early acceptance?....hehehehe

its lame, but it is required, why blow it off? it shows lack of caring

so the teacher is awful, a C in gym won't hurt but to fail for not showing up just seems a pretty dumb thing to do

so... how are the rest of your grades?

I failed gym once, but it turned out the teacher was discriminating against kids in the gifted program. ::sigh::. I wasn't allowed to do archery because i missed the target on my first try.

In my gym classes, it's rare that the teacher even gets to know my name throughout the whole semester. I'm not even joking. He always said "who are you?" to me. It was ok though because when my friends and I sat on the side and he threatened to mark us down, he didn't know who I was. I sat out and goofed off like 2/5 days per week and still pulled a 98 because he had nothing to mark me off on.

The person who got a C...that sucks. I thought gym teachers weren't supposed to grade on skill. The ball passed you, so what? I thought they just checked changing and efforts. Jeez

wow. you should explain the situation i think to the colleges and i think they would understand.

I signed up for some class that's pretty much all guys and we lift and run all the time, except for games on Friday. The coach calls it "AP Gym" ha. Yup, i'm gettin college credit...

In our state PE is a required course for graduation. If a senior fails the first semester, they MUST take two periods of PE the second semester (and pass them both) to graduate...or they can go to summer school. PE is required for all four years here..and YES with passing grades. Talk to your GC to find out if you'll even be able to graduate with your class.

Gym should be required every day for all the lazy fatasses in America.

/I'm one of them

hahaha yeah... we only have it 3:5 days a week and thats only if you dont take a sport. if you do take a sport, you can get out of gym for the year.

that's good and bad, depending on how you look at it.

but i like gym, except i hate not having free periods. plus this is the first year ive actually had gym. hmm...

Pongo -
"I wasn't allowed to do archery because i missed the target on my first try."

Sounds a little harsh (unless of course you hit the teacher instead).

as dufus mentioned, you need to get this worked out ASAP. It may involve seeing your GC with a parent in to tow to see what can be arranged.
