Wen you read the topic, you probably thought that I was a low-life pothead who wallows around doing nothing. I have earned straight As ll through out high school and I have participated in 10 million clubs so that I can get into a good college. My school offers "Credit Flexibility" so that students can take a test and opt out of a class if they pass. (don't judge), I am not physically fit but i decided to take the test since no one has ever failed it. Guess who became the first one? Of course I will re-take the course and get the credit and also have my GPA re-calculated but the "F" will show up on my transcript forever. I am slowly realizing that I might have just ruined my entire life by a silly, impulsive mistake. I am trying to not dwell on the past but I am really scared that thoughts about this might also affect my performance in other classes. So my quetion is, in terms of college admission, how bad will this look?( I am planning to apply to selective colleges). I fully understand that it is an F, but I will attach a note describing the circumstances and what i have learned.

Some colleges re caculate your gpa to only include Academic classes anyway.
but having an F on a piece of paper vs having an F in your gpa are two very different things

the F is in gym. if you still have A’s across the board, colleges won’t care less. they might just think it’s a little odd, but it shouldn’t hurt your chances

“I have participated in 10 million clubs so that I can get into a good college”
Well thats as far as I read before I stopped. Simply participating in things does not get you as great of marks as doing something important in them.

So because you took the test rather than the course they failed you for the whole course? That doesn’t sound right…It should be a pass and you don’t have to take it or fail and take it, but you shouldn’t get an F on your transcript for a class you actually never took.

If you’re looking at the UC’s which only go by academic classes you should be fine, but more holistic ones may be more of a reach…I mean, places like Harvard have to turn down thousands of fully qualified applicants, who have probably never gotten below a B in their life.

On a side note - I would never take that risk of taking a test for a course I haven’t taken at the risk of “failing” it and the course simultaneously.

Ahahaha, oh god, my sides!

Of course I know that participating in a lot of clubs will not be enough in college, I just wanted to further illustrate how worried I am right now. It came out wrong, sorry.

They really won’t care.

Eh. They really won’t give one.
