Failed Highschool

I’m new to this forum and I need help. I don’t really know what to do, I’m a junior in highschool but i’ve messed up my grades. I can still graduate but i know with my grades, i can’t and wont get into any good colleges. I dont know what to do, transfer wise or what i need to do first

Many people who have not done well in high school go to a community college and then transfer. Some community colleges have agreements with certain colleges/universities that make transfering easy or automatic if your GPA is above a certain level.

Thanks for the advice, would you happen to know how should i start planning for it?

@WhiteSyco Well, you should try to do the best you can from now on so that you will do well in community college/college.
Can you make an apt with your guidance counselor to discuss options. You could see what community colleges there are in your area and look on the website to see if the have an agreement with a larger university or use this website that allows you to see which community colleges have articulation agreements to whichcolleges/ universities.
As long as you graduate h.s., you can get into a community college. You want to do well enough that you don’t need remedial classes in c.c. since those won’t transfer to a 4 year college. You could also visit your local cc and/or the college/university that has an agreement with the cc, to get more information and a more concrete idea about possible paths. Good luck!

CC is certainly an option. As others note, as long as you graduate HS, you are in. Some Cal CCs are excellent. Most are good and a handful are pretty bad. Most communities of any size have a couple - choose the one that sends the most students on to a 4 year. A CC will give you the chance to start over - but, i’ll caution - if you take the same approach, you’ll get the same results. College is hard work, and there’s limited short term accountability (for example, nobody cares if you go to class - so, YOU need care)

You may also be qualified for a CSU.
Only college prep classes from grades 10-11 count for you CSU/UC GPA so, this semester represents 25% of your GPA - kick but this semester. A 3.2 - 3.5 this semester could open a LOT of doors.

If you haven’t - take the SAT and do your best. An above average score will open lots of doors as well.

CSUs use a really simple formula to rank applicants. (CSU GPA*800 + SAT M&R)

So - a 2.4 CSU GPA and 1000/1600 SAT = 2920 Index.

Several CSUs will admit applicants with a 2900 index. (Monterrey Bay and Channel Islands are 2 of them) Something to strive for in the coming months.

Without your GPA and test score - it is tough to give much more concrete advice.

Good luck.
