I sincerely apologize if I am sounding like I am defensive. To be frank, at the time of writing this post, I was very nervous and not in the right state of mind and I admit that I came into this with the wrong attitude. I am aware that I did do poorly and I am learning from my mistakes. I have accepted the fact and moved on but I will still improve in the future personally and academically and learn from my past mistakes to become a better version of myself.
I would talk to your high school counselor about how and where this class will be on your transcript and go from there. She should also have advice about whether grade replacement is possible. None of us knows exactly how this class and grade will appear for your particular school. She can also let you know about how it will affect your GPA.
If, for some reason, it doesnât appear on your high school transcript, it will still appear on the college transcript that you need to submit with applications. The counselor should also be able to help you think through that impact.
I wouldnât write about it in an essay or Additional Information, unless there is supplemental information you havenât included in this post that would somehow explain or mitigate the grade. Admissions officers can see that you challenged yourself and failed based on the transcript, and drawing further attention to it isnât likely to enhance your application.
A failed DE class before junior year will not change the trajectory of your life, so learn from it and adjust your choices in the future, whether that means studying harder or not overloading yourself or pursuing a different set of classes or something else.
Good luck.
What if the counselor didnât agree these courses should be taken?
StillâŠI do agree with others. This wonât ruin your life. Look forward. You canât do anything to change what happened in the past anyway.
I would hope that conversation would occur prior to that with the counsler
Sorry about your situation, have one question. Was there a need to complete a set number of DE classes before your college application(s)?
Life is a marathon not a race. You need to pace yourself to get maximum output.
All the best to you.
