Failing a class that's not related to my major

I'm a math major at the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio. I'm not doing well in a religion class that I have to take. I don't think I'm going to be able to raise my grade, so I'm going to take the course again so the failing course grade will be removed from GPA calculation and replaced with the newer grade. I understand that it will show on my transcript. I'm planning on attending grad school. Will retaking the course hurt me when applying to grad school even though it's a course that's not related to my major?
