Failing a course that is not uc or csu transferable?

Will this hurt my chances for transfer? I made the mistake of taking an online math course that has proven to be really hard for me.

I have a middle d and I'm not sure I'll be able to get my grade to a C before the semester is over...The course is math 82 or intermediate algebra(i know, please dont judge haha).
It is not uc transferable or csu, I was just taking it so I could take pre-calc but I might not need to take pre-calc anymore since I changed my major from Business to Philosophy.

Any help would be appreciated! I really hope it wont hurt my chances for uc transfer.

I took the same class but took it Pass/No Pass for the same reason! Anyway, I think the only thing for you to do at this point is explaining what happened in your January update. The fact that it is not a major requirement is helpful. Do you need to still fulfill the math requirement for IGETC though?

Yeah, unfortunately I do. This is my first semester.

I wonder if there are any math classes that count for the igetc that I could still take such as finite mathematics?

Statistics might be a good choice, but I think anything is going to have that Intermediate Algebra pre-req (at least the classes at my school do). Could you re-take the Intermediate Algebra class over a winter session, an then a transferable class in Spring?

Maybe best to talk to a counselor about this one.

For most UCs it won’t even count it against your gpa. The only UC that will factor it into your GPA is UCB (with the exception of the college of L&S).

same thing with me.
i failed the exact same class 3 points away from a C.
im going to take it wintersession. if your school doesnt have one i suggest you find a school close by that does. because you dont wana chance not being able to transfer because your a math class short.

i got a D in this math class, too. :(

it wont’ matter, but it will matter in you being able to take a transferable math class on time before transferring, since intermediate algebra is a pre-req for all transferable math classes correct? getting a D might not be that bad if it is still considered passable for you to enroll to take higher level math.

this is why I tell people to know your grade throughout the whole semester. Don’t just wait till finals to wonder what your grade is. You have plenty of time to figure out how you are doing in a class to drop with a W. Never finish up a class with a D or F…take the W next time.
