I was admitted to the hospital the week of the finals and I missed all the finals last semester.
One of the professors let me take the final after but since I missed the week before the finals because I was too sick, and I took the final right after I got out of hospital...I almost failed it. I'm pretty sure it's like a D.
I was planning on transferring for fall 2008 because I don't like my school.
Would retaking those courses help?
Also, if I were to retake those courses, I'm planning on taking it during the winter or the summer because I have my classes for the fall already scheduled and I don't want to change it.
Would this hurt my chances at transfering a lot since I wouldn't have the new grades until after I send the applications in?

Def. talk to all your professors about your situation. They may let you take the finals again, at a later time or give you an I, and let you "finish" the class the following quarter. If they don't let you do this with your legitimate reason, then go to the dean.

If all fails, retake any courses with F,D,or I's as quickly as possible so they can be removed in time for your application in 2008. In your application, you will def. want to write what happened to explain certain grades/fluctuations.

Good Luck

Oh and it probably will affect your chances, but if you give a reason they may go ahead and disregard those classes for now and look at how you did after you sorted out retaking the finals/class again. However, I can't say that is what they will do, so your best bet is to call the admissions offices of the top schools you are hoping to go to and see what they say about it.
