Failing an AP exam?

How does failing an AP exam impact your chances of admission to a school?

Very little

Well it won't help, that's for sure. As for much it will hurt, it shouldn't hurt very much -- AP scores are only for placement and/or credit. It's not one of the main criteria admissions officers look at, so it shouldn't break you.

its just for placement. scores arent to affect admission chances unless u fail like half of however many u take

Well, if you take an AP course (and do well in it) and then fail the test, that says that your class wasn't as challenging as an AP should be and that you have not mastered college introductory level material, giving no weight to the fact that you took a challenging class at all. You don't have to send an official report, so you can just not write in failed grades, but if you have an AP class on your transcript and no score, it doesn't look great. If you self-studied, doesn't matter.

Ouch...I got 4's. I'm a failure...

yes, anything below a five is failing.

you have got to be joking virtuoso.
if you are, great.
if you aren't, i pity you.
i guess my 3 in lang is below failing. way to go me! :)
