Failing Math 1B

So, I'm doing really poorly in math 1b. My past 2 midterms are waaaay below the average (for the first one I got a 27 and the prof told us anything below a 37 was a F) and on the 2nd midterm and I got a 29 ( I don't know what the average was but I'm assuming this is an F). I feel like no matter what I do, I'll end up failing the course. If I retake this later on and get a better grade, will the better grade change replace my current Math 1B grade? thanks!

Yes, if you retake it later on and get a better grade, the better grade will be recalculated to your GPA. However, your previous grade will still be on your transcript.

Only 12 units of repeated D or F grades will be replaced by the later grades, and repeating a course more than once requires special approval.

Recommend you check out the services at the Student Learning Center. Here’s the link for Math 1B tutoring: [SLC | Math 1B](Math 1B | Student Learning Center). You can also make an appointment to speak with a Study Strategies Adviser. Go to the Math 1B Tutoring Open Drop-in Hours; go to any of the Math 1B Study Groups you can make it to. There’s lots of resources there; don’t give up. Good luck!

Retake in summer school; you’ll be able to concentrate on the class. The classes are also taught by more lenient GSIs during the summer.

Retake the class. The summer class is much more interactive and you shouldn’t have as serious of a problem. If I were you, I would just get an incomplete and choose to freeze the incomplete.
