Failing regents exam

I'm from NY and here, the state administers end of the year exams called regents exam. It's an end of the year test in a class. I failed my algebra II/trig regents but passed the class. Since I am doing early action at most of my prospects and I won't be able to retake the exam until January, how detrimental will my failing grade be to my application? The test grade will be shown on the transcript. My guidance counselor assured me that adcoms don't know the difference between a final exam and a regents exam ... but I'm guessing they won't be impressed. Thoughts?

Not a huge deal

why don’t you take it in august

Do you think adcoms have never seen a NYS transcript before? They DO know what the Regents is. That being said, if you have passed the class you should be OK.

Chemmy - - test isn’t being offered here in August. Maybe not enough people failed? Not sure.

Erin’s Dad - - thanks for your input.
