Failing school.....

After facing my junior year in high school, my gpa dropped from a 3.87 to a 3.5....I got three F's and two D's in my classes both semesters because of a feeling of indifference towards school. I was a star student in my underclassmen years because I wanted to do well and acheive great things, but by the time junior year came by, I didn't know what the point was, so I just stopped trying. I don't know what to do now....with only a 1400 on the SAT i feel like I am screwed for college, literally.
Sorry, just had to get that out there.
What do you guys think I can do if I even have an option at this point.

why don’t you buy a summer squash an loosely hang it around your neck. That always makes me feel better.

Junior year is the year they look at the most so you’re kinda screwed royally, I gotta be honest here. If anything: retake the SAT, redo at least a couple of those failed classes, and do pretty damn well senior year. 3.5 is still a pretty high GPA

You’re not screwed at all. If I was in your position, I would start looking at respectable community colleges. If you explain the situation, they will give you the opportunity to get your act together. Get good grades (i.e. straight A’s) and you will be able to transfer to a good state school after a year or two. After you finish college, your high school record will forever be irrelevant, and you will now have a shot at great grad schools.

Or, you could just hang a summer squash around your neck. :)

Community College for you. Just don’t be part of the 70% that don’t go on to 4-year college

You screwed

Well, a 3.5 GPA isn’t so bad, but the F’s and D’s you’ll need to do something about. Maybe see if you can retake those classes that you failed. I would say to retake the SAT as well.

These a-holes will tell you to go to community college only because they know very little of any school that isn’t Ivy League. Let them blow their parents’ money on those schools and you keep yourself together. There are plenty of schools that will take you with a 3.5 GPA. Don’t be ridiculous.

Do well Senior Year. :D

Woh - Wiscongene, I think you were missing my point. A flagship state school will not accept someone with 3 F’s and 2 D’s on their high school transcript (maybe they will at a branch campus, and that’s worth a shot). So, the OP could get admitted to a second tier school for 4 years (as you propose), or save some money, go to a community college for 2 years, and then transfer to a flagship state school. At the end of the day, the person that went the community college route and has a flagship state school degree will be in a better position than the person who graduated from a second tier “other school”.
