so this football player at my school just got a fullride scholarship to UCLA. He never took any AP/Honors classes and was failing chemistry the last time i checked. His UC essay was composed of a short paragraph.

so many people i know work their butts off in school yet never makes UCLA.
when good universities give out these kind of scholarhips, do they think about how these athlets may not be ready to take on the rigorious courses offered?

Plus the athletes contribute way more to UCLA than most of us students ever will. The only true college ranking systems are the BCS, AP, and USA Today polls for NCAA basketball and football.

my take on athletes are that they have a different mission in life, they serve the school by bringing in money from ticket sales. Also, what makes UCLA attractive to a lot of students is the amazing sports team we have here. Student morale is much easily raised by having national championships, rather than any academic achievements.
