What are the usual reasons for deferral especially when this was a safety. Does anyone know how many EA deferrals get accepted and when? Thanks everyone!
Schools don’t like to be used as a “safety”. If there is a sense you are just applying to get in somewhere, without loads of specific demonstrated interest, they will defer you. They wan’t to accept students who are likely to attend.
Agreed, safety only to me, I applied because I would attend, but thinking my stats would be more than sufficient. My other schools have a lower acceptance rates which I was accepted, but Fairfield is my favorite.
@hopefulskier it probably depends on the pool of applicants that applied EA. My son is a sophomore there and the past 2 years the early action applicants accepted have had pretty high gpa and test scores if submitted. My son had a 3.7gpa and 32 ACT and though accepted EA he was not given their highest merit scholarship because those seemed to go to the 3.9/4.0 students. Also depends on the school you applied to. The business school has become very competitive and the nursing program is even more so.
